Project Description

small mapThe City of High Point, in cooperation with the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), propose to make improvements to Johnson Street/Sandy Ridge Road (JSSRR) in the City of High Point, Guilford County. The project study area is located between I-40 and Skeet Club Road in the high growth area of northern High Point. A regional project location map is shown here. The length of the proposed project improvements is approximately 4.4 miles.

The purpose of the project is to improve traffic flow and enhance mobility for vehicles, pedestrians, and bicyclists along the corridor. During the project development process, the study team will identify alternatives that provide an aesthetically pleasing transportation facility for all types of users that is sensitive to the rural character and community resources of the area. These types of alternatives are often referred to as "Complete Street" concepts.

Since this project will receive federal funding from the FHWA, the project development studies will comply with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). An Environmental Assessment (EA) will be completed for the project. Learn more about NEPA here.

Input and feedback from the public will be critical to the support, direction and success of this project, so please contact us and let us know what you think.
